One of my favorite hobbies is gardening. There’s just something remarkable about growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other eukaryotes with your own hands and a few simple tools.
Gardening is a dreamy pastime that I am lucky enough to practice daily, in the spring and summer. Conversely, during the colder months of the year, I tend to stay indoors. In the area that I live, greenhouse gardens can produce a harvest year round. In the past, I have grown spinach, carrots, kale, cabbage, and peas, all while the white snow covers the ground. However, winter gardening doesn’t captivate and enchant me in the same way summer gardening does. I don’t like to be cold, and winters in Idaho can be terribly dreary, even within the garden walls.
On the bright side, I hear that the buying + cultivation of houseplants can be addictive (in a good way). This is likely because plant projects give horticulturists a mental health boost. In detail, caring for houseplants has been shown to lower cortisol levels, enhance mood, and reduce stress. So, although I don’t often plant a winter garden, I do focus on my indoor potted aloes, fiddle leaf figs, monsteras and others. Luckily, there are so many products and plant species that make growing house plants fun and easy!
With this in mind, over the last two years I have made it a point to bring my gardening passion inside. I love plants so much, that I have amassed a sizable collection of houseplants, almost more than my small space can hold. I guess you could say it’s a stereotypical millennial plant obsession. I like to joke that I have more plants than actual human friends.
In light of this, I want to share with you some of my favorite indoor plant products. These are all items that I use in my own home to keep my plant babies healthy, growing, and beautiful!
